Q&A: Acushnet's COO says he "feels good about the future" as company becomes publicly traded.

The owner of the Titleist and FootJoy brands started selling on the New York Stock Exchange on Friday at 10 a.m. for $17 per share. That price rose to $18 within the first 90 minutes of trading, then came down and traded within a range between $17 and $17.50 during the afternoon. According to the Associated Press , the company has raised $329 million in this initial public offering. Fila Korea Ltd. purchased Acushnet for $1.23 billion in 2011, and Fila Korea now controls about 53 percent of the common stock. Golfweek spoke with David Maher, Acushnet’s chief operating officer, to talk about the initial public offering, what being a publicly traded company means and the state of the golf industry.
