Difficult scoring conditions greeted the 15-team field Friday at the John Hayt Collegiate Invitational, and host North Florida handled the carnage the best. The No. 44 Ospreys posted a 5-over 293 to start their tournament at Sawgrass Country Club, and the score was good enough for a six-shot lead after 18. It helped that North Florida also had the leading player in the field after Round 1. Phillip Knowles made four birdies in a six-hole stretch on his back nine to open in 2-under 70 and grab a share of the lead. Dillon Woods (72, T-5) and Taylor Hancock (74, T-9) round out the top-10 performers for the Ospreys, with the next best of the group coming in at T-33. The other co-leader, Brendon Jelley, belongs to No. 15 Oklahoma State. The sophomore overcame two early bogeys to post a 70, and his contribution boosted the Cowboys to a 12-over start that left them in solo third. ...
