Fine line between moving on, going home in FedExCup race

EDISON, N.J. -- Jason Day took over the top spot in the FedExCup standings with his win Sunday at The Barclays, and he could move to No. 1 in the world next week, too. Nick Taylor and Stewart Cink, meanwhile, found out just how slim the margins can be in the Playoffs. Taylor missed a 7-footer for birdie on the 18th and Cink a 14-footer for par on the same hole to be eliminated from the Playoffs. Only the top 100 in the standings will advance to next week’s Deutsche Bank Championship. Taylor finished 101st and Cink 102nd. Camilo Villegas, however, was on the other end of it. After five three-putts earlier in the day, he made a 9-footer for par on the last. His 3-over 73 and and tie for 30th moved him to 99th in the standings.
