One of the great partnerships in Canadian golf has come to an end. Lorne Rubenstein, who started writing for the Globe and Mail in 1980, announced via a final line in his column, that he'll no longer be writing for the paper. After penning a nice story on Ryan Yip , the Calgarian who is in the hunt at the Australian Open, he signed off with one final line: Note: This is my final piece for The Globe and Mail, where I started my column in 1980. I appreciate your reading my work, whether in print, or, more recently, mostly online. Rubenstein, a member of the Ontario and Canadian golf halls of fame, confirmed by email that he has indeed ended his run with the national publication. He will continue to write about golf in other vehicles, including his back-page column with SCOREGolf Magazine.
