The NCAA Division I Men's Golf Championship Committee has approved two sweeping changes that will alter the 2014 championship at Prairie Dunes Country Club in Hutchinson, Kan. The first change will return the race for the individual medalist to 72 holes, with the first three days of stroke play still determining the top eight teams for team match play, but the top 40 players and ties will advance to an additional day of stroke play to determine the individual champion. That champion will be crowned Monday of tournament week after the committee also approved beginning the championship on the fourth Friday in May, which will send the team championship to a Wednesday finish. The primary push for this change was to accommodate live television, as Golf Channel will begin broadcasting the men's NCAA Championship in 2014 and both the men and women in 2015.
