Report: Phil Mickelson paid off $2 million gambling debt in 2012

Once again, Phil Mickelson's name has come up in the insider-trading case involving professional gambler Billy Walters, and the latest detail unveiled publicly is unlikely to sit well with the eccentric golf great. The Walters trial has unfolded in Manhattan federal court this week, and court documents revealed that Mickelson gave Walters $1.95 million in the summer of 2012 to pay off gambling debts, according to the New York Post . Last year Mickelson was forced to pay federal regulators $1.1 million for benefiting from investment tips received from Walters, though the golfer was not charged with any wrongdoing.
