It’s not uncommon for college golfers to endure their fair share of struggles. Oklahoma State senior Zach Olsen knows that reality all too well. Three years ago, Olsen was a baby-faced freshman who gave Alabama first-year standout Robby Shelton all he could handle during the match-play final of the 2014 NCAA Championship at Prairie Dunes. Olsen lost a tight match to Shelton, who needed to birdie six of his final seven holes just to win, 1 up. (The Cowboys also lost that day.) Still, Olsen’s breakout performance put the kid from Cordova, Tenn., on the proverbial college-golf map. Olsen followed with a strong sophomore campaign, which culminated in a T-19 showing at the NCAA Championship at Concession Club. Then came the slump – and suddenly.
