The 111th U.S. Open Championship is underway! #usopengolf

Bethesda, Md. - Under threatening skies, the 2011 U.S. Open Championship commenced Thursday at Congressional Country Club's Blue Course. At 7 a.m., Skip Gist, a USGA Executive Committee Member from Omaha, Neb., stood to the side of the 10th tee to announce the first three players to tee off: Chad Campbell of Andrews, Texas; Harrison Frazar of Dallas, Texas; and Marc Turnesa of Rockville Centre, N.Y. Over at the first tee, a similar scene took place with Daniel Burton of Lititz, Pa., announcing Dae-Hyun Kim of Korea, 2001 U.S. Amateur Public Links champion Chez Reavie of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Shane Lowry of Ireland. A few hundred spectators gathered around the tee at No. 10. A few more had populated the large grandstand behind the green.
