North Carolina claims three-shot Fall Preview victory

North Carolina won the Liz Murphey Fall Preview on Oct. 7, finishing four shots ahead of Golfweek’s preseason No. 1 team, Alabama. The Tar Heels shot a final-round 2-over 290, the best round of the day at the University of Georgia Golf Course in Athens, Ga., to finish at 12-over 876. They climbed two spots up the leaderboard to overtake Auburn and Alabama. North Carolina’s Casey Grice was the low Tar Heel, finishing as the runner-up with a 2-under 214 total. Teammate Jackie Chang (T-14) also finished in the top 20. It’s the first victory for North Carolina this season. “I’m extremely proud of our team and their performance over the last three days, particularly today,” Coach Mann said. “It was very close down to the end.
