• Ben Curtis, who played the first 36 holes with no score worse than a par, opened Saturday's third-round of the Valero Texas Open with a double-bogey en route to a 1-over 73. At 9-under, he leads by three strokes. The last time a 54-hole lead at the Valero Texas Open was by at least three strokes was in 2007, when Jesper Parnevik led by three, but lost to Justin Leonard. • Curtis has previously held at least a share of the 54-hole lead four times, two of which resulted in victory; 2006 Booz Allen Classic, 2006 84 LUMBER Classic. • Dating to 2000, eight third-round leaders of the Valero Texas Open have held on for the win, most recently Brendan Steele last year.
