RBC Canadian Open heading east in 2014.

The RBC Canadian Open is moving east. In a surprise announcement, Golf Canada announced that the 2014 Open will be held at the Pippy Park Golf Club in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador. "We believe in taking this event to all parts of the country," said Dave Small, RBC's man in charge of the event. "We think that heading to Newfoundland is a great move that will give us a huge boost." One of the reasons for making the move is apparently to shorten the travel time from the British Open. A flight from Heathrow to St. John's is just five hours. "It's exciting for sure," said Mike Weir. "I haven't played golf in Newfoundland before so I'm sure it will be great. I'm looking forward to trying some Screech." Pippy Park, a municipal course, has 27 holes and the tournament will be played on the Admiral's Green course, which can be stretched out to 6,300 yards.
