Say hello to this week's birdie machine. In the second round, Mahan reeled off five straight birdies to beat Y.E. Yang. On Friday, he produced four straight birdies on the back nine to route his fellow American. He's played 30 holes over the last two days and has 16 birdies and two other conceded birdies. "No doubt it was going to be a tough match," Mahan said after beating Stricker. "Luckily I brought my 'A' game. I played solid tee to green." Mahan had nine birdies on the day and never trailed after posting his first birdie at the par-5 second when he drained a putt from just outside 11 feet. It was the first of four birdie putts that he made outside of 10 feet, highlighted by a 53-1/2 foot putt at the par-3 12th. "As soon as it got halfway, I knew the speed was right," Mahan said. That pushed his advantage to 5 up and also prompted Stricker to pick up the ball and throw...
