The FBI and Securities and Exchange Commission are investigating Phil Mickelson for possible insider trading, according to two separate reports in the Wall Street Journal and New York Times late Friday. According to the WSJ report, authorities are “examining a series of well-timed trades” involving Mickelson, high-profile Las Vegas gambler William "Billy" Walters and investor Carl Icahn that include two separate stocks. Neither Mickelson, Walters nor Icahn has been accused of any wrongdoing. “I have done absolutely nothing wrong. I have cooperated with the government in this investigation and will continue to do so,” Mickelson said in a statement released early Saturday. “I wish I could fully discuss this matter, but under the current circumstances it's just not possible.” Mickelson also said his legal counsel has advised him to make no further statements.
